Sustainability

We are proud to be a British-made brand, with a passion for doing the right thing where we can.

We are small but selective – from the very start of our journey we have carefully chosen our suppliers and manufacturers in order to minimise our impact on the environment and maximise the positive effect of our commitments to sustainability.

Our printed fabrics are printed in England onto British-woven linen union. We print everything digitally using non-toxic water-based pigment inks, a process which has several environmental benefits over more traditional methods: it uses significantly less water, power and has a much smaller carbon footprint than traditional printing. Digital printing also enables us to print to order which massively reduces potential fabric waste - our minimum order is just one metre.

The little waste we do have - namely off-cuts from cushion-making and sampling - we re-purpose into our small fabric birds and elephants, which are made entirely from fabric remnants.  We also actively encourage our stockists and customers to return unwanted samples so that we can re-use them - Sample Recycling

Our woven fabrics are woven for us using Flax in a vertical production Jacquard weaving mill in Suffolk. This means that the entire process, from design development, yarn dyeing and weaving to finished fabric can be followed through the factory. The mill is family-run and has been in operation for over 300 years.

All of our packaging is re-used where possible and where we do have to buy new packaging, we ensure that it is made from recycled card and board.

We offset the emissions from our freight and shipping (both domestic and international) via UPS’s carbon neutral option, a programme which is independently assessed by SGS, a global testing and verification company (www.sgs.com), and certified by Natural Capital Partners (www.carbonneutral.com).

We believe in supporting local small businesses like ourselves - all of our marketing material and stationary is printed by our Glastonbury-based printer onto high quality recycled card and our cushions are made for us in small batches high up on the Mendip Hills.
